ABSTRACT

The global demand for energy is growing, so to meet energy needs both now and in the medium and long term, with an affordable price, a decent standard of living, in terms of quality, food safety, taking into account the principles of sustainable development, it must aim at developing new conversion technologies and renewable energy sources. The purpose of this paper is to identify possible technical solutions for the recovery of waste heat from industrial processes or from different power sources. At the same time we aimed to achieve a high efficiency by choosing the organic agents with thermal properties nearest to the targets.

The idea of recovering energy from waste heat sources with continuous discharge involves storing it for later use according to requirements. In conclusion follows that a possible solution the organic Rankine cycle, low speed turbine, dc conversion and stocking in batteries.

This paper details the selection criteria for the working fluids and it includes the list of potential fluids for Rankine cycles. We report also the thermodynamic models and the heat exchangers needed for the numerical simulations.

As an alternative method,to recover the energy from the waste heat, we present a solution for producing electricity by using Peltier modules.

Keywords: Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC), energetic efficiency, Peltier modules.
