ABSTRACT

The research and design activities for various tritium processing systems, Water Detritiation System (WDS), Isotope Separation System (ISS), Highly Tritiated Water System, Atmosphere Detritiation System, Analytical System, are carried out by a EU consortium of associations called TriPla-CA. The activities are conducted in view of mitigation of one of the main concerns related to licensing of ITER, respectively the amount of tritium released into the environment and the qualification of the barriers against tritium release. In ITER design the final barrier of tritium release from Fuel Cycle is the WDS which will be operated in combination with the ISS. Therefore, an extended research program is on going on experimental facilities based on Combined Electrolysis Catalytic Exchange (CECE) process and Cryogenic Distillation (CD) process.

The on going and future planed tritium related activities to be carried out by TriPla-CA are introduced.
