ABSTRACT
In this study, a packed bed catalytic membrane reactor for steam methane reforming was numerically analyzed. The solution of the numerical model taken into consideration was obtained by a computational fluid dynamics solver, Fluent. The first 2D CFD simulation results present the flow distribution in the reactor, the velocity profile and the mass fraction for two species: the methane and the hydrogen. This is an introductory study that is intended to give us an insight regarding the interaction flow-heat-chemical reaction that is taking place inside a porous membrane reactor.
